Cook County- The 2021 reassessment cycle is almost complete as property owners in Hyde Park Township received their reassessment notices last month. Hyde Park is the last township to be reassessed in the City of Chicago, completing the triennial reassessment cycle under the leadership of Assessor Kaegi.

Reassessment notices contain the estimated fair market value determined by the Assessor’s Office. This amount reflects the current market value, in other words, what a home could sell for in today's market.

This value will be reflected on the second installment tax bill mailed later in 2022. If an owner disagrees with the estimated fair market value or finds that the property characteristics listed are incorrect, they can file an assessment appeal.

Property owners in Hyde Park have until January 21, 2022, to file an appeal. More information on filing appeals can be found at cookcountyassessor.com/appeals.

Homeowners are encouraged to read the Hyde Park Valuation Reports that include detailed reporting about the real estate market and assessments produced at the modeling stage by the Assessor's Office.

Homeowners can download a guide, available in six languages, that explains the process of filing an assessment appeal.

To learn more about how properties are reassessed and the appeal process, join the Assessor’s Office at an upcoming virtual event in partnership with the City of Chicago’s 3rd Ward, 10th Ward, and the West Chesterfield Community Association.
